The Six Pence Pub: Traditional English Pub in Fort Mill, S.C.
The Six Pence Pub is in the heart of Baxter Village in Fort Mill, S.C., on Market Street — recreating a traditional English Pub right in the middle of a new mixed-use development filled with homes, commercial property and more.
The pub truly recreates the décor of an English Pub, and even features a traditional English phone booth on the sidewalk to make Market Street feel just a little more like Great Britain.
The Six Pence Pub in Fort Mill is actually one of three, including one in Blowing Rock, N.C. and one in Savannah, Ga. The original is in Savannah, and opened in 1999 — but only after two gentlemen purchased Wally’s Sixpence, a pub that was in the Historic District of Savannah for more than 40 years. The new owners added a full menu of traditional English food, and expanded the beer and wine list. In 2006, the men opened the one in Fort Mill, and it has become very popular, especially with the residents of Baxter Village.
The pub offers plenty of European beer on draft including Guinness, Newscastle, Smithwick’s and Bass, and a full bar. Those looking for a traditional English food experience should look no further than Six Pence Pub. The Pub offers British staples like Scotch Eggs, hard-boiled eggs wrapped in sausage; Shepherd’s Pie, a ground beef and vegetable stew topped with mashed potatoes; Beef Guinness, a bread bowl filled with beef tips marinated in Guinness Stout; and of course, Fish & Chips.
Sandwiches run $7 - $12 and specialty entrees run $10 - $15.
